BARGAINING REPORT

The CUE bargaining team has met with UC on April 22-24 at UC Irvine, May 27-29 at UC Davis, June 1-3 at UCOP, and again on June 9 and 10 at UC Los Angeles.  The team also met on Saturday, June 30, with Peter Donahue (economist) to go over UC's Hidden Wealth.  This will be discussed more at a later date and presentations will be given across the state.  Here are some facts that may interest you:  student tuition and fees has increased 277% since 2001, only 30% of CUE salaries comes from State appropriations, 6% from tuition and fees, and 41% from UC sales and services.  When this information is presented on campus by Peter Donahue, please plan to attend.

In May, CUE passed its wage proposal to UC and it can be found at the following link: http://www.cueunion.org/events/email-050409.php.  We also agreed to tentatively agree on current contract language on 11 articles.  At this point we have agreed on 15 articles, to participate in StayWell and the START program.    During these sessions, the team has also been discussing the interests in the following articles (some in more details than others at this time):

Respectful Fair Treatment (Article 33)
Performance Evaluations (Article 26)
Wages (Article 45)
Benefits (Article 42)
Shift Differential (Article 35)

Thank you to those CUEsters that came to UCOP on June 2 and passed out the flyers regarding Yudoff and his extraordinary salary and pension.  About a dozen CUE members were present, along with an UPTE member or two.
